Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek

Dec 30, 2020

Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek is the higher end version of the classic EBC trek that offers the chance to explore the Everest region while enjoying the grandest of luxuries.

Our Everest Luxury Trek with Heli Return package offers an even more enhanced experience with the added option of making the return journey via a Helicopter. The Everest Base Camp Trek is a once in a lifetime adventure in itself, but this luxury version makes everything even better. Here, you get to make the journey to the foothills of the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848m) while staying at the best hotels and tea houses and enjoying the best delicacies available around Everest.

In addition to this, you are also treated to some fantastic views of some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas including Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Pumori (7,161m), Changtse (7,543m), Makalu (8,485m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Ama Dablam (6,812m) and of course, Everest. This experience is further enhanced with the heli flight, where you get to gaze over the breathtaking Khumbu region and its numerous peaks, glaciers, lakes and valleys from the air.

Our 11 day adventure on the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Even at the very start of the tour, you are already able to enjoy some fantastic aerial scenery of the Himalayas. With the arrival in Lukla, things only get better. Lukla is the entry point as well as starting point for most treks in the Everest region. The Tenzing Hillary airport at Lukla, named after the legendary first summiteers Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, has a small airstrip where the landing will be pretty exciting. For the first day, we will have a warm-up trek from Lukla to Phakding. Our accommodation will be a top-end tea house, and we will follow similar suit on the coming days as well.

On the second day, our adventure finally begins with the trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. On the way, we will pass through Monjo and eventually enter the Sagarmatha National Park, where most of our further trekking will take place. Spread out over an area of 1,148 square kilometers, the Sagarmatha National Park is home to exotic and rare species of Himalayan flora and fauna including Pheasants, Himalayan Monals, Thar, Snow Leopards, Red Pandas, Musk Deer, Black Bears, Wolves and more.

We’ll also have our first day of acclimatization at Namche Bazaar. Namche, popularly dubbed the ‘gateway to Everest’, offers a lot of possibilities as to how you can spend this day. Whether you want a short hike to scenic viewpoints or you want to experience the fascinating local culture and tradition, Namche has you covered. Soon enough, the day will have passed and we will resume our journey from Namche to Tengboche the following day.

The journey to Tengboche offers some revitalizing and scenic mountain vistas including that of Ama Dablam and Everest. The Tengboche monastery, famous as the largest monastery in the region, is also a worthwhile visit while you’re here. We will trek over the 4,000 meter mark on our way to Dingboche the next day and have our second acclimatization day there. The hike to Chhukung Ri is a popular way to spend the day among trekkers here.

Following a couple days of trekking from Dingboche to Lobuche and then Gorak Shep, we will finally accomplish our goal of trekking to the Everest Base Camp. We will make the hike to EBC in the afternoon and reach our destination after a couple hours of walking through the rough and icy glacial moraine. Here, we’ll stand at the foot of the highest peak in the world and be surrounded by countless towering peaks. We’ll greet some hopeful summiteers setting their camps, take some pictures and explore the area for a bit before heading back to Gorak Shep.

The next morning, we will make yet another short hike to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,545m), the highest point of our trek. Kala Patthar is a fantastic viewpoint that offers a panoramic view comprising of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Khumbu glacier and more. This place is renowned as a photographer’s paradise and you certainly won’t be disappointed either. The sunrise view from here will be one to remember for a lifetime.

After a while, we’ll return back to Gorak Shep and wait for our heli. The heli ride will treat us to some breathtaking aerial views of the Everest region, and Nepal in general for almost an hour before we land at Kathmandu. A refueling stop may be made at Lukla if deemed necessary. Either way, after we reach Kathmandu, the Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek will be successfully completed.
